Phrase of the moment: 唔該

The most useful Cantonese phrase I've learned so far is 唔該 (pronounced: M4 goi1), which literally means "you shouldn't" and is pretty tricky to pronounce - think of it as Campbell soup's theme "Mmm" and then, well, "boy" with a short "g" sound. You use it wherever you go, whether it's addressing bus drivers, waiters, or little old ladies hogging up the escalator. It's used in place of "please" and "thanks" or even "excuse me".
